PROBLEM
Complex processes and limited CRM integration hinder sales issue resolution and detection.
Frequently, companies stumble upon sales errors or find themselves without the in-house expertise needed to address a range of sales challenges. CRM or Customer Relationship Management systems play a huge role in ensuring efficiency in processes and information is relevant throughout a sales pipeline. Inefficiencies in processes and CRM can significantly impact revenue, especially during COVID-19 and inflation-related downturns. Quick sales turnaround and guidance are now crucial.

Need expert advice
Processes need to be adjusted
WHAT users look for in a sales consulting company:
Experience in an industry
Alignment on values, goals, and vision

Appropriate experience and skills
IDEATION AND DESIGN
I leveraged an agile methods for the logo and website design, involving continuous collaboration and various iterations.
Designing the logo and website were a similar process. This involved understanding the look and feel of what the client wanted for his brand and maintaining consistent client involvement. I gathered gathered feedback quickly before moving on to the next phase and adjusted timelines as needed. Various sketches and wireframes were presented to reach the ultimate designs for both the logo and website. The evolution of iterations leading to the final logo is illustrated below.
The final changes from a regular up arrow to a design with a funnel and arrow as the “v”, came about due to the relevancy of a funnel in sales consulting. A sales funnel is the process or path it takes a company to get a potential customer to become an actual customer. The up arrow next to the funnel on the logo represents an increase in revenue. A play on the “v” using two symbols worked for the logo and was not overwhelming for the overall look and feel. The turquoise color resembles positivity, growth, and creativity, which is what the client wanted his company to represent. After designing the logo, it helped inspire the design for the website.
I approached the website design first by identifying the information architecture. From analyzing competitors, I noted the below structure of having a home page, about page, services pages, and contacts page, were standard in the industry and easy for users to explore.
From the information architecture shown, I approached the ideation for the design using a modular system design to provide a scalable yet structured experience that can flex to the needs of different pages. I started by creating zone diagrams where I identified the different areas of the webpage along with their respective purpose. This helped organize the layout and created ease when ideating and copywriting. See an example below of how I landed on the final home page!
VISUAL DESIGN
The style guide
I created the style guide below. The client requested a a blue-ish color palette that gave off a look and feel of professional, creative, and modern. After experimenting with various color palettes including blue and orange and blue and yellow, and blue and teal, we finalized on a blue and teal accent color palette. I introduced gradients into his design to provide visual diversity and modern style. For the typography, I selected two san serif font types, Effra, and Proxima Nova, to give off a younger and more modern feel. This style guide would stand out amongst competitors who had more classic and “corporate” designs.
DESIGN CONSTRAINTS
Developing the website on Squarespace has its limitations.
The client requested that the website be built on Squarespace. Squarespace’s base functionalities are very basic and provide less design creativity. In order to design gradient backgrounds and add certain visual aesthetics, I had to utilize HTML and CSS to customize a lot of the design. Even with HTML and CSS changes, some areas like the grid spacing and image placements, still had some limitations that I could not change. The variety in grid spacing made section margins slightly different. A few images on the heroes did not sit on the landing pages where I had originally intended, so those designs had to be changed. It was overall not the simplest of platforms but at the end, most of the design was successfully published, so it was a great project!

CONCLUSION AND NEXT STEPS
What would I do going forward?
Plan the timing of deliverables to clients better
Being a sole designer involves extensive planning. While major deadlines for delivering research, wireframes, final designs, logos, and slides were well-scheduled, finer details like drafts and iterations were less structured, leading to more unexpected revisions. It's crucial to establish a clear approach from the outset to communicate expectations and ensure timely design delivery.
Learn new CMS systems to reduce design limitations
Using Squarespace limited my creative capabilities. If I can utilize a more advance CMS like Wordpress or other CMS’s, that would greatly improve my interaction and design capabilities.
